SUMMARY
Looking for a “positive results”, driven leader to bring a high level of experience and creating the role to be most effective with transportation routing, safety and regulatory issues. Position is responsible for the operation of the company's transportation network.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Introduces, sets goals and manages KPI’s pursuing cost efficiency via route optimization, trailer utilization, productivity, overtime management, etc. while maintaining the company’s customer service expectations.
  • Oversees the daily activities of the Transportation Department including, Management, Drayage, Intermodal, LTL, OTR, FTL and Freight Forward. Will also coordinate efforts with Warehouse Managers and ensuring that tasks are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Reviews all accident investigations with Safety. Supports safety department as needed
  • Controls, sets and maintains “pick up” efficiency goals while meeting or exceeding customer service level expectations ensuring efficient route dispatch of trucks, work safety management, and regulatory issues.
  • Directs, hires, terminates, counsels and rewards staff as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Must have 5 + years’ experience managing Transportation and Logistics operations
  • Experience with computer fleet management systems, including CADEC (others/similar), and broker tools (Dat/Truckstop) to maximize fleet efficiency, etc. plus working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience working with Trinium preferred
  • Experience managing Drayage, Intermodal, OTR, FTL. LTL and Freight Forwarding
  • Bachelor’s degree
 
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
  • Effective communicator with all levels of employees including senior management
  • Strong Leadership and Communication skills, with the ability to lead, motivate and coordinate safety and transportation training programs.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
 
MATHEMATICAL/COMPUTER SKILLS:
  • Ability to manage financial reports and previous experience/accountability for multi-million dollar budget
  • Fleet management software knowledge
  • Software, Trinium knowledge
  • Broker tools, including Dat/Truckstop knowledge
  • PC Literate with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of products
