Paralegal/Legal Assistant (Urgent Need)

Growing West Los Angeles law firm specializing in commercial real estate and business litigation and transactional work seeks paralegal/legal assistant with 4-7 years' commercial civil litigation experience for immediate start. Applicant must have excellent research and writing skills and be located in Los Angeles, with preference given to applicants located in West Los Angeles/Santa Monica/Culver City/Beverly Hills/West Hollywood. Ideal candidate can manage and prioritize their workload effectively and independently.
Duties:
  • Preparing and e-filing documents in state and federal courts
  • Maintaining multiple attorney calendars accurately
  • Assisting in preparation of discovery requests and responses
  • Noticing and objecting to depositions and scheduling court reporters
  • Case file management
  • Routine communication with clients about case status
  • Working closely with attorneys and other staff on non-litigation matters as required
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Prior paralegal or legal assistant experience of 4-7 years required; paralegal certification a plus
  • Ability to meet deadlines punctually and prioritize workload effectively
  • Strong familiarity with maintaining multiple calendars for attorneys
  • Solid understanding of California state and federal civil litigation rules of court
  • Computer skills: Expertise with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint)
  • Experience in electronic filing in California and federal courts
  • Excellent organizational ability and communication skills
  • Solid grounding in legal research (Westlaw preferred)
  • Self-starter -- able to complete tasks with minimal supervision
  • Must live in Los Angeles, California, with preference to applicants on the Westside of Los Angeles/Santa Monica/Culver City/West Hollywood/Beverly Hills
